North Lopham Burial Ground

As the 'Burial Authority' North Lopham Parish Council is responsible for the Burial Ground. This is the area to the west of the Church - leading towards the water tower (excluding the area of orchard, which is in private ownership). The area immediately adjacent to the Church - at the front, rear and east side - is under the care of the Church.

The Burial Ground regulations and current table of charges are available here (in .pdf format).

In line with Health and Safety recommendations the Memorial Stones are inspected and those considered to be in imminent danger of toppling are lowered to the ground. Every effort will be made to contact those responsible for the Memorials so that they are aware of the problem and can make arrangements to have the Memorials professionally repaired. If contact cannot be made, the Burial Authority will decide how best to deal with the situation.. It is likely that the base of the stones will be buried about 15 inches into the ground (making them stable); in this way no damage will be caused and re-instatement could be carried out at a later date. The inspection reports can be viewed here: 2009 report 2010 report (in .pdf format).

Please contact the Clerk to the Parish Council if you have any queries. See contacts for details.
